Another altar by my talented husband...

...and our good friend and neighbor, Steve.  This is the most elaborate of the three altars Bret has done for the Fathers of Mercy, and so he did well to employ the persnickety Mr. Cain.  This altar is in their private chapel at their Generalate in Auburn, KY, the other two being at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Glasgow, KY and Our Lady of the Caves in Horse Cave, KY.

I am told that the Fathers are delighted, and I am very happy that it has been installed just in time for their annual retreat, so that all the Fathers of Mercy will be able to see it.

Ad maiorem Dei gloriam!

This is really neat!

Want to take a little tour of a baroque church in Austria? It takes a while to load, but it's really worth the wait!

Look what my husband built!

A threshold between Heaven and Earth. The altar where mere bread and wine become the Sacred Body and Precious Blood of our Lord (click on the pictures to see them enlarged). He also did the arch above the sanctuary last year (I did the little "In Hoc Signo Vinces" banner). If you are ever visiting Glasgow, KY, stop by St. Helen's Catholic Church. It is a little jewel.

Una's drawing of the Chapel of Divine Mercy

Una has made a gift of her drawing to the Fathers of Mercy. Fr. Wade Menezes, CPM told her that he would have it matted and framed, and that it would grace a wall somewhere.

The Chapel of Divine Mercy is Done!

It sure does look nice, don't you think?Oops. Wrong photo. This is what it looks like now:Still not too shabby for being out in the sticks in Kentucky, eh?
The dedication is set for tomorrow, and no, we will not be attending. Two hours travel round-trip, a three hour Mass and then another two hours for the reception...no, I don't think my kids could handle that long a day out (I know I couldn't handle my kids for that long a day out!), so we will skip the dedication and just go to Mass there on Sunday and attend the picnic/potluck afterwards.

St. Cajetan's

The Church of St. Cajetan in Munich, also known as the Theatinerkirche, was always one of my favorites. There are so many beautiful Baroque churches in downtown Munich, all within walking distance from one another, most painted, carved and gilded to the extreme. But the Theatinerkirche is all white stucco. It reminds me of an elaborate buttercream creation.

Update on the Chapel of Divine Mercy

Here are the latest photos of the Chapel project at the Fathers of Mercy. Apparently the communion rails are in as well and the pews are being installed, although they've not yet posted photos. The dedication is August 23rd, so they are really moving now.
