A late bloomer: born in 1963, married in 1987, baptized in 1996, had my first baby in 1999, and moved to a mere two acres in rural TN in 2002 after a life spent in cities, hoping to grow more self-sufficient and closer to God. I love my Catholic faith, my incredibly handy husband, being home with my six crazy, amazing kids, and living in the country.
If you want to know how I came up with "Patch O' Dirt" for the farm, it actually comes from The Secret Garden. Mary Lennox asks her uncle for "a bit of earth" in which to plant a garden. If Mary had been in Tennessee, she'd have asked for "a patch o' dirt."
