Rainy days bring a certain quiet. Strangely, is seems that fewer vehicles drive by, and everything seems more somber. I rather like it. If you would replace the cows with sheep and the barns with cottages or castle ruins, it would look very much like parts of Ireland. Or the south of England.
Speaking of England and somber moods, I am feeling aNadjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11092566609789390592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691883299905666578.post-52365972678987324682015-08-05T15:28:00.001-05:002018-08-16T11:39:24.984-05:00Catching Up Post #1: JulyI never made a conscious decision to abandon my blog; life and new priorities got in the way. I don't want to leave this space altogether, as I do enjoy coming here to look back over the years. But as time has passed, I no longer write with a mind to "followers." I'm writing for me, so I'm glad if you're here, but you may find it a bit dull. Gabriel has taken over the morning milking, to the great relief of Sebastian, who is not a morning person. It takes a little time for a milk cow to get used to the voice and hands of her new milker, but it looks like Fiona has made the adjustment and thinks Gabe is just fine...

Life is kind of crazy these days, and blogging was beginning to feel like just one more thing I had to do. In an attempt to streamline my life as much as possible, I let go of the blog. I don't even read blogs anymore. I check in on my Facebook perhaps once a week, just to check in on a few people I'm close to who Nadjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11092566609789390592noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691883299905666578.post-41529384592234920702014-11-12T18:21:00.000-06:002014-11-14T14:52:00.400-06:00I'll slow down after the new year......but until then, I'm keeping a pretty frantic pace.
I finally printed out a few planner pages (thank you, donnayoung.org, for all the printable calender and planner pages I could ever use) today because the jumble of things I need to do in the next two months was causing some severe sleep deprivation. Putting the mess on paper got it out of my head so that I can sleep at night. Never an idle moment in the last quarter of the year!
The days have been passing in a blur as every moment not spent on home, hearth and schooling has been dedicated to crafting. Some of it is knitting, some of it sewing, and it has been pretty equally divided between making things for our Etsy shop, Frost Lane, and making Christmas gifts. I have made wool dryer balls Nadjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11092566609789390592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691883299905666578.post-37534110081015395412014-10-27T15:25:00.000-05:002014-10-27T21:03:11.034-05:00Monday Musings--27 October 2014--Indian Summer
Right now...it is nearly 3 p.m. It is a marvelous, unseasonably lovely day. The laundry is on the line, waving like banners in the warm breeze. Tomorrow rain is predicted, and thereafter much cooler temperatures. But today at least there is still a little time for bare limbs, sun-dried laundry and rides around the house on the 4-wheeler.

Back with Ginny at Small Things for another Yarn Along...
Well, I am still on a roll knitting hats. I have finally ceased knitting the Turn a Square hats, after knitting five or six of them, and I knit two The Perfect Beret hats for my God-daughter and my niece (in the photo above). It's been no less crazy than usual around here. My determination to stick to some sort of framework for our schooling is not so much born of a need to organize (I have gone from hyper-organized to a happy, disorganized mess over the decades), but from a need to keep the kids occupied enough to make a dent in the petty bickering. Seems that too much free Nadjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11092566609789390592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691883299905666578.post-38040514499405652942014-09-30T06:57:00.001-05:002014-09-30T06:57:59.809-05:00Crafts for the shopI've spent the past week making things for our Etsy shop, Frost Lane. It's been a while since I've done any crafts (I'm a wee bit put out by the fact that only my youngest two like playing with craft materials when I have an assortment of them that would stock a small craft supply store!) I worked on wood-burning some one inch buttons, made some more toadstool-pendant necklaces and Nadjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11092566609789390592noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691883299905666578.post-81551562632391049482014-09-18T13:07:00.001-05:002014-09-18T13:07:45.508-05:00I'm late! I am back for Ginny's Wednesday Yarn Along for the first time in what seems eons!
I took a long break from knitting as I began to focus more on writing, and my knitting bag in the van was replaced by my notebook. Right now...nearly 8 p.m. It's been a busy day. We just finished the rosary and I'm feeling like I'm ready for bed!

We always dreamed of having a cow that could really produce some milk. All the cows we have milked previously averaged about a gallon a day (milking once a day) after the initial freshening. We would hear of these Jerseys producing 3-5 gallons a day and wonder why our cows never reached such amounts. Our littlest family member is five! We celebrated her special day on Saturday with a carrot cake and presents from friends and family. She had a wonderful day. I hope everyone had a brilliant Independence Day! It's been over a month since last I checked in here. There has been plenty going on, and I need to update a little. In May we enjoyed a visit from my uncle and grandmother. I can't quite pinpoint why it is I have such difficulty coming to this space to write these days. Right now...I seem to be yawning out of control; in fact, I may have to put this aside until later if I can't stop myself from yawning every 15 seconds. The weather is clear but cold this morning (27 degrees it was at 7 a.m.). I am quite ready for warmer weather.
