Look what my husband built!

A threshold between Heaven and Earth. The altar where mere bread and wine become the Sacred Body and Precious Blood of our Lord (click on the pictures to see them enlarged). He also did the arch above the sanctuary last year (I did the little "In Hoc Signo Vinces" banner). If you are ever visiting Glasgow, KY, stop by St. Helen's Catholic Church. It is a little jewel.

  1. When we were visiting the Sullivans a few months ago, I saw those and thought they were beautiful. I had no idea who had made them. What great skill he has.

  3. Wow, that's amazing! Did he carve that? Beautiful.

I'm not planning a trip to KY any time soon, but my new little one is named for St. Helen (Alianna is a Spanish version).

  4. Hi, Milehimama,
No, it is built of many pieces. The Agnus Dei was commissioned by Bret and carved by a KY carver, Brian Sims. You can see a statue of St. Helen just below St. Joseph.

I love the name Alianna, by the way!

  9. Wow!! That's all I have to say. When I showed it to my husband he said the exact same thing. Yes, yes, we DO truly have a way with words in our family. :)
