A miscellany...

it's nearly 7 a.m. and only Una and Gabe are up with me.  The house is amazingly quiet.  The sun is still below the horizon, but it is fairly light out, and the sky looks clear.
.
I'm still in pajama bottoms and a T-shirt.  Don't want to risk waking Gemma by going in my room to dress just yet.  I got my time in on the dreadmill this morning.  I don't much love getting on that thing, but I do like the way I feel having been on it.  I've been trying to exercise daily, and I've never had much incentive in the past, but turning 50 next month and having a 4 year old child has given me enormous impetus...

I'm on day ten or eleven of the longest UTI I've ever had.  I have been using everything from cranberry juice to super doses of vitamin C, to colloidal silver, to grapefruit seed extract, and now I'm on an herbal capsule I had Bret pick up at the Mennonite store.  The infection hasn't gotten worse, but it gets somewhat better and I think it's going, and then...I realize I still have it.  I've made a doctor's appointment for next week, but am hoping to lick this thing before then, as I don't like antibiotics and I don't have health insurance.

I have Elderberry Echinacea Syrup on the stove right now...I've heard a few sniffles, but it could be that the heat has been kicking on, and that seems to blow dust around from the vents.  Bret had the boys out helping him nearly all day in the chilly weather, so I'm taking precautions regardless.

My poor MIL has not been able to adjust to the cold.  Too many years in warmer climes.  I think we are going to have to go to Goodwill and find her a winter jacket and some other warmer articles of clothing.

I'm in a slight panic over various things.  Christmas and the need to find/make gifts for six kids and others..  The fact that I still haven't started knitting anything.  The fact that I have about 30 zillion photos on my computer and I really need to get some printed or my kids may have no childhood photos one day.  I need to find a good local dentist for Una who will take her insurance.

Sometimes being a grown-up stinks.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to get back on track with a household regimen.  After years of hyper-organization, I seem to be rebelling against schedules and the like, but I really need to find time to read to the little guys more that I have, to do some crafts with all the kids and to still find time to write and work on my own projects.  It seems that time gets eaten up in a million interruptions and unexpected occurrences, and so much falls by the wayside.  I don't just need a daily list...I need to make out a list for the week in order to get things accomplished.  I think it is time to print out some weekly planner sheets...

Okay...no more sitting here wasting time.  I'm off to be productive...

  2. They have all gotten so big ! I have a big box of books( that I keep adding to) with your name on it. I don't know when we'll make it up there - it seems like one of the boys is serving every week. I am just going to put it in the mail I think !

I'm right there with you in the slight panic - and completely agree that being a grown-up stinks sometimes ...

Enjoy the time with Bret's mother - and hopefully I'll see you soon !
