Yarn Along-- Noro Milo complete

I'm with Ginny again this week, showing off the completed size 6 Milo for Dominic.  Seeing as it is to be a gift, I tried it on his diminutive 7 year old brother, who is only a shade bigger than he is, and it is a good fit.  I have my scant notes on Ravelry, and last night was looking for what to cast on next.  I need to order some yarn for the striped mitts Una wants as well as some black and gray merino for the boys' hats.  I am trying to decide between Ginny's Sunday Sweater and a few baby sweaters for babies I know...decisions, decisions!

As for my reading, I finished the youth fiction I was reading last week, Black as Night, and now Sebastian is reading it.  It's really good, and I think Regina Doman is fantastic with plot and character development.  Currently, I am three chapters into Cold Mountain.  We have been on a long Civil War kick, starting with just general Civil War history, moving to the south, and soon to be concentrating just on Tennessee and Kentucky.  I am not yet blown away by this novel--I have not yet been able to develop much feeling for any of the characters--but I will give it a chance.

Hoping to stop by and see what's on your needles and nightstand, too!

  1. Your vest is beautiful.
I read Cold Mountain, but must be honest and admit I didn't care for it. We are studing the Civil War for history too, and just finished Uncle Tom's Cabin. [So, so sad].

  2. So many accolades for that book, I feel a bit guilty at not being blown away! Una just read Uncle Tom's Cabin a while ago, and I have Faulkner's The Unvanquished on the night stand to read next.

  7. Lovely vest! I still need to get my post up... my daughter just scolded me for letting the fire go out. Ugh. Too many things to do, right?

  8. Oh, that yarn made a fantastic Milo! I think I might have to try something lush and stripey like that for our next one...
I have a copy of 'Cold Mountain' (from before it was a movie, even!) in a box in my attic somewhere. I never did get around to reading it. I'll be interested to hear how you feel about it when you are farther along. xo

  9. Great colors on your Milo. Seems like a great season for vest knitting. I just finished a Pickles vest, and have been thinking of doing a Milo. Seems like a great pattern. http://www.larksongknits.com/2012/10/03/autumn-yarn-along/

  10. Great colors in your yarn. Beautiful work! And I really enjoyed Cold Mountain -- I liked the book better than the movie. If you're interested in Civil War fiction, March by Geraldine Brooks was pretty interesting. It tells the fictional story of the father from Little Women and his experience in the war.

  14. I love the vest!! All the knitting blogs I read seem to be making milos right now, and I'm itching to cast on! Maybe tomorrow... ;) I wasn't really thrilled with that book either, I do love historical fiction but that one really didn't do it for me... I just have to say again how much I LOVE the vest! :)
