Monday Musings--July 19th, 2010

Right Now:  6:23 a.m., and I can already hear Adrian's gruff little "whiskey & cigars" voice shouting in his room at one of his brothers.  It is overcast and 77 degrees already--about as warm as I like it.  I have my usual Monday morning mountain of laundry started.

This Past Weekend:  On Saturday I just stayed home and took care of things around here.  I have been slowly working my way through my workroom, trying to de-clutter it.  It's slow going.  I had 7 years' worth of the kids artwork to sort through and stash.  My hope is to finish the workroom and the schoolroom this week.    Yes, that is seriously ambitious!  I also got a chance to work on the winter cardigan I'm making Gemma in a lovely forest-green wool.

Yesterday was Mass, and our 23rd wedding anniversary.  You'll think us really dull and unromantic, but the only time we ever did anything "special" for our anniversary was at the decade mark, when we spent a long weekend in Beaufort, SC and visited Charleston.  That was before we had kids.  Having kids gives us an excuse not to go anywhere, but in truth we probably wouldn't go anywhere anyway.  Maybe in two years, when we hit the 25-year mark we'll have a party or something.

We did get a blessing from one of the Fathers at Mass, and splurged on some Bunny Tracks and Mint Chocolate-Chip ice cream for dessert (we rarely make anything fancier than Oreo ice cream at home).  And we set off some leftover fireworks from the 4th last night.

Some Plans for the Week:  Continue my cleaning frenzy in the school and work rooms; continue researching curriculum for the coming year--my list keeps changing!; continue to make a list of things to make as gifts for Christmas, along with a list of materials need for said gifts; make more butter and yogurt; try to finish the body of Gemma's winter cardigan and cast on something else for someone else.

If I Can Find Some Time for Myself I Want To:  browse through some craft blogs and Ravelry patterns for ideas!

Special Prayer Intentions:  so many...for Colleen, for my friends Cindy and Dale (the sale of their farm fell through, and they are now waiting for God to show them what to do next); for my sister and her health concerns; for several friends who stand in need of prayer right now.  For employment for Bret.  For Deb, who is expecting her sixth child very, very soon.

Something That Makes Me Smile:  A tidy workroom...

Feel free to grab the header and post your own Monday Musings.  Link back here from your post so that I can read it.  And have a blessed week...

  1. Yay! Happy Anniversary! We are the same. We rarely do anything super special. Flowers and dinner is usually it. I love your work room. Is this your homeschooling room also?

  2. Happy Anniversary, Nadja!

A dear friend of mine (Beth) just recently expressed her delight in having met you in person...a privilege I envy (in the best possible way!) May God bless and keep you...many more years of happiness!
