Gemma is a year old

My, where did the year go?  I made the bed this morning and I couldn't help but think about her birth--right there--only a year ago.  How did she go from this:

to this:

Of course, I knew I would be feeling sentimental and weepy today.  I love my chunky little girl, but I miss that light-as-a-feather little thing sleeping against my chest in her wrap.  All the more so because I waited so long for another baby girl, and I don't want the time to fly by--as it has with Una.

We had a good day today.  We had to wait with the celebration, as Bret had to work, but after dinner we brought out the cake (four layers of alternating pink and white cake with raspberry jam and whipped cream frosting) and the presents.

Her favorite gift by far was the cart I asked Bret to make for her, and he did a fine job.  It is made in such a way that she can't tip it over, and although she is not yet walking on her own, she loves to pull up onto the handle of the cart and push it along.  She likes her brothers to push her in the cart as well!

She also received a couple of Melissa & Doug wooden toys from her aunt and uncle, a beloved Beanie Baby dog from Adrian (one he received as a gift before his birth), a necklace and a baby doll.  And a couple of things knit by mama.  One was the sweater I finished a few weeks ago, and the other was a cotton sun top.
Yuck...I hate flash photography, but the house was dark.  Oh, well...

It is well past my bedtime.  Goodnight!

  3. I have been waiting for the birthday picture! That girl is so yummy!

Hugs to you. I get sentimental every time I see Anna toddling about the house like a big girl.
