The Twelfth Day of Christmas

Is it wimpy of me to let go of my developing schedule only two days into it? It just somehow feels wrong not to acknowledge the last day of Christmas with a day off. In years past, we never started school until after Epiphany proper, after the 6th of January, but I was seeing how little we were getting done throughout Advent, and I thought we ought to try to take the week before and the week after Christmas off, then try to get back to work. But today I will toss the schedule aside, and we will bake a simple Bundt cake, color pictures of the Magi, and I will fold some window stars to put up and brighten our short winter days.

A blessed Epiphany to you!

  1. Sounds awesome to me! As I mentioned, we will not start back to school until next week... today being the main reason.
I found a beautiful color sheet for the kids. We have a few errands to run, and I am going to take the kids out to lunch for a treat . I am a little tired of baking, but a bundt cake sounds great. Anyhow, I would like to just finish up the holiday with a quiet and restful week! JMJ

P.S. I think you are anything but wimpy! :-)

  2. There is nothing wrong with that at all. I don't think Jesus would mind.

  3. a blessed epiphany to you too!
and a wise homeschooling friend told me the other day: i handle the craziness of this week by giving my kids ONE more week off!
so i took her advice. we are only tackling math and reading. my girl writes because she is the only one who cares about her education!

that bit about playing house. that's me ever day. i get tired of being the grown up too. i've been making the kids help me more because i want FREE time too!

besides, no matter how much i clean things always seem to be messy. and i am sure you have that same problem, eh?
