Yarn Along--sticking to simple

I am back again, joining the illustrious Ginny for her weekly Yarn Along.  So excited for her, as she has just published her first knitting design, and it is just the sort of design I love:  beautiful and straightforward, with nothing persnickety about it.  I can't wait to cast one one, but at the moment my life is so challenging (the last quarter of the year is always so for me) that I am keeping my reading and knitting on a very uncomplicated level.

I'm knitting a Milo for Dominic.  My knit gifts of hats and mitts and so forth were going to be autumn gifts, but with things looking a bit tight for Christmas, I think I may have to save them to put under the tree, lest things look a bit too bare there this year!  I am using some Noro Kureyon I had in my stash, and I know Dominic will love it because he is my one child who seems to love everything I make for him!  And unlike the others, does not have sensitive skin and can wear even Peruvian wool against his skin and think nothing of it.

On the Kindle is a book I ordered for Una, but I actually enjoy reading "Youth Fiction" on occasion, and the Fairy Tale Novels of Regina Doman are actually quite wonderful.  The first of them, The Shadow of the Bear, is a retelling of the Grimm's fairy tale, Snow White and Rose Red.  The second one, Black as Night, continues with the same characters, but is a clever retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Both the knitting and reading are easy enough that I can sometimes even pull off doing both simultaneously!

Looking forward to a little inspirations as I peek around to see what everyone else is knitting and reading--simultaneously or not!

  1. Love Noro...it's not the BEST to knit with in terms of quality (I find) but I'm addicted to the totally unexpected colour combinations. That is a GREAT pattern...may have to buy it for my littles! We're preparing for winter with knitted socks...my goal is to get a pair done for each member of the family before the baby is born (although my husband's size 11s might have a longer wait...)
