Getting ready for November 6th

Starting today I begin a 40 day fast to hopefully add some "oomph" to my prayers for a positive outcome to the elections in November.  I hope there are others out there who are doing something similar...think about joining in.

October Baby

October Baby opens nationwide on October 23rd.  Here's a movie I am really looking forward to seeing--and not just because I haven't seen the inside of a movie theater since...hm, was it Passion of the Christ or The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe I last saw...?  Anyway, it looks like a wonderful pro-life film with an incredibly important message.  My dear friend, who is active in Rachel's Vineyard, has already seen it, and cannot praise it highly enough. Please support the makers of this film and check the listings to see when it will be in your area.  Then, go see it.

A family in need of your prayers RIGHT NOW

I received an email about this family in our county. Rachel will be going in for a C-Section in just a few hours. Although I do not know them, I am asking for prayers.  My blog is read mainly by moms, and no mother I know would want to find herself in this situation.  Pray for a miracle, or that at very least many people are blessed by their witness to Life.

Ought we prepare our children for martyrdom?

If you can, go see Europe's shrines and holy places while they are still there.

Geriatric Obstetrics

At the OB appointment yesterday

Me: On this form for the lab work, "High Risk" is checked. Is that just because of my age?

OB: Yes, we consider anyone over the age of 35 a high risk pregnancy.

Me: I've had all my kids at over the age of 35.

OB: (Breaking into a goofy grin) Yes, I noticed that. Got a bit of a late start, didn't you?

Me: I'm making up for it.

Hasn't the man read Aesop? I was about to mention that the Tortoise, too, got a late start, but I thought better of it--he may have come back with something about my resembling the Hare in terms of fertility...

**sigh** I'll be glad to switch to my midwife in the last few weeks...I don't feel like such a curiosity with her, as she delivers babies for lots of big families and older mamas. And she never asks me, "So, do you think you'll be done after this one?"

Our Holy Father sets Pelosi straight

Any more "ardent Catholics" out there in need of a crash-course in Catholic teaching? Here's the article I read from the Catholic News Agency.

Imagine the Potential

With many thanks to Danette for bringing this gem to my attention. I hope others will put this video up on their blogs and websites so that it will hopefully open a few eyes and hearts.

If you are pregnant...

...or Pro-Life, or just love babies, you have got to see this beautiful video clip on Allison's Totus Tuus blog. It is wonderful.

The Communion of Saints is Alive and Well!

Thank you, Alice, at Cottage Blessings, for bringing this story to my attention. I know that God and His saints and angels are always working miracles, mostly unbeknown to us, but it is wonderful to hear how they can come forward in ways so that no one can doubt their influence.

Please read this wonderful article about a Serbian abortion doctor who was converted by St. Thomas Aquinas himself--of whom the doctor had never heard.
