Yarn Along--hurry, hurry, hurry!

I am joining Ginny for her weekly Yarn Along once again.  On the reading front, I am still reading what I began last week, which is To Kill a Mockingbird.  I am still pretty much near the beginning, as I never seem to read more than a few pages before my eyes begin to close on me.  I really love the book, and can't believe that I don't remember much of it at all.  Obviously, it didn't strike a cord with me in high school.

With the knitting, I am doing pretty well.  I am on the bottom ribbing of Sebastian's Henley. This beautiful yarn knits up quickly and feels and smells wonderful.  I love merino.  If I can get done with the ribbing today and then do a sleeve a week, I will finish this sweater right on schedule (I am challenging myself to do a sweater per month by the end of November, one for each of the children.  I am trying to begin with the larger sizes and hoping to actually get done before my end date so that I can squeeze in a few Christmas hats and scarves as well.

I am looking forward to spending a little time throughout the next couple of days taking a peek at what everyone else is knitting/reading.  If you enjoy knitting--or crocheting--and good reads, stop by Ginny's and join it!

  2. That really is a beautiful pattern. I'm still muddling through a Baby Surprise Jacket that's taking quite a while. You can see it here http://lacafetiere.blogspot.com/2011/06/yarn-along_08.html

By the way, I'm a new follower.

  5. It's so great to know that I'm not the only person who sniffs their yarn. ;-)

    Good luck on your challenge!

  6. Ah, Jen, I don't just sniff it; every time I take the sweater out of my knitting bag I bury my face in it! And I made my husband smell it, too (he did not seem to be quite as transported as I over the lovely, woolly smell)...

  7. I can't believe that I've never read "To Kill a Mockingbird"!
I think I'll read it with Emmy this Summer.

  9. I just thought the other night that I would like to knit each child a sweater by Christmas. You're so smart to start early. I can imagine myself panicking in December when I've only just started! I loved To Kill A Mockingbird and I think I remember quite a bit from it. That's not usually the case with most books I read, but I really enjoyed that one.

  11. What a great challenge to do a sweater a month! I think it's a wonderful idea.
We read To Kill A Mockingbird last year for our homeschool lit. I had forgotten quite a bit too. I must be getting old!

  12. I couldn't help nodding sagely at the idea of only reading a couple of pages before sleep overtakes. Its about all I'm managing at the moment. I love your challenge of a sweater a month. Way to go!

  13. Such lovely stitches. I felt the same about Mockingbird I have read it now after high school. I think it was above my reach back then. Enjoy binding off. Have a great weekend, Katie x
