Monday Musings--January 31, 2011

Right now:  It is nearly 3 in the afternoon.  School is done, I just spent about an hour reading to the boys, and Dominic and Gemma are still napping, so it is quiet.  The weather is cold, wet and atrocious.

This weekend...was not the best on record.  Dominic's ear infection last week turned into a ruptured eardrum on Tuesday afternoon, and so he ended up at the doctor's and on antibiotics.  I detest the overuse of antibiotics, but when you need them, you need them.  He is doing wonderfully well.  So now the trouble is with Adrian.  Things always seem to happen on the weekend, don't they?  His right cheek and jaw are swollen, and his face is hurting, and his lymph nodes are sensitive.  So we have to bring him in today.  And I have a sore throat, sensitive lymph nodes and a slight temperature.  I didn't get to Mass, but Adrian and I prayed the rosary together, and then we played Chutes and Ladders and made things from Legos.

Some plans for the week:  Well, I think Adrian and Dominic are on the mend, and I am hoping that I will be feeling better in a day or two.  The doctor drew blood from Adrian and didn't rule out mumps, but I would be very surprised if it turned out to be that.  Bret and I are vaccinated, and we are both having the same symptoms, though without any discernible swelling.

If I find some time for myself, I hope to block the little vest I began for Gemma last week, and cast on something else.  I'm feeling rather rotten, so I'm not very ambitious right now.

Prayer intentions for this week:  prayers for the continued marital happiness of my friends Dale and Cindy, as today is their 25th wedding anniversary!!!  May God bless them in this world and in the next.  I also pray for health for my family.  I just find it hard to feel at peace when my kids are unwell!  Many prayers for Una and Sebastian as they prepare for Confirmation...

Something that makes me smile:  reading to the boys, especially Sebastian.  He could listen forever to me when I read.  It makes gray, cold nasty afternoons so much nicer!

If you care to post your own musings, just go ahead and borrow the header image, and leave a link to your post in the comments.  Have a good week!

I posted some Monday Musings, though I kind of hijacked my own post with a movie review.
