Monday Musings--8 August 2011

Right now:  It is nearly 6:30.  Una is in from chores and is on the computer in the office, transcribing pages of her novel from notebook to Word; the rest of the house is still slumbering.  I am so grateful that Gemma slept through the night...lately she has been waking 2-3 times a night crying and calling for me.  Sometimes she goes back to sleep fairly easily; other times I put her in our room to get her to sleep again.  Isn't it ironic that only recently Dominic has stopped waking us nightly?  I guess he was ready to pass the torch...

This weekend...was busy, but not too busy.  There were the usual chores to be done, but I also spent time knitting, considering ideas for the Heart Swap which Linda at Natural Suburbia is hosting, and working quite a while on my Saturday blog post, as we had a slew of power outages, and one of them made most of the post on which I was working disappear!  We jokingly call our electric company the Hooterville Power Company (anyone remember Green Acres?).  We can't have a breeze blow through without the lights blinking and the computer shutting down.

Some plans for this week:  Today is the feast of St. Dominic, so either Una or I will most likely bake something for this afternoon.  I need to work on something for Linda's exchange; start work on Dominic's sweater, finish reading Redwall to the kids,  maybe try to help Una sew a bit.

If I find some time for myself, I would like to...do precisely those things I have in my plans.

I am grateful for...work for Bret for the next few weeks (thank you, St. Joseph!); good and thoughtful friends (thank you, Cindy V.!) and this feeling of peace, however temporary it may be (thank you, Lord!).

Some prayer intentions for this week:  First and foremost, for Gregory O., the little son of friends in Charlotte, NC.  He seems to be very ill and in a lot of pain, and they are trying to discern what it is so that they can treat it.  Please pray for him and for his family.  I am praying to St. Dominic, asking that he bless his namesake and keep him close to Jesus; I am praying for good weather, as Bret is working repairing a roof this week; and I am praying that the Mennonites will come back to us with a good price on framing our new house.  Bret has been so busy trying to make ends meet that not much has gotten done (he is currently trying to build his workshop up on the property so that he will have a place to work and store his tools).  The local Mennonites do this kind of work in the winter, when the farming is done for the year.

Something that makes me smile:  a serious(ly) chocolatey face.

Have a blessed week, everyone!

  2. I posted a Musings, the first one in a LONG time. I've been so busy this summer I hadn't done them in a while. Hopefully once we start our school year I'll be able to do them more but probably in the evenings or SUPER early in the morning. I LOVE your picture, she's such a cutie.
