Monday Musings--13 September 2010

Right Now:  It is 6:37.  The day promises sunshine, and I am hoping for a good first day of school in spite of a poor night's sleep and Gemma rising at 5 and not wanting to go back to sleep.  I've paid bills this morning and have a load of laundry ready to hang out, and the kids are up and chatting.  I think it will take a couple of weeks for us to find our schedule and rhythm.

This Weekend:  was lovely.  Saturday was nice...we didn't run errands, and although I could have certainly spent the day more productively, I spent a good bit of time knitting and making drawstring bags for two little boys who had been asking for them for a while.  I was aware that as of today things would get very hectic and busy, and I wanted to have one last, luxurious, wasteful day

Yesterday was glorious.  We had a wonderful homily at Mass (I managed to catch most of it in spite of some very ill-behaved little boys whispering, fidgeting and playing with Gemma in the pew!  Once home, we had a late lunch and relaxed, enjoying the perfect weather.  Bret and I spent a little time shooting hoops together as Gemma sat by and watched.  It was the first time we've ever done that, and I wonder what the guy driving by on the tractor thought, seeing a middle-aged couple, me with an apron over my skirt, running around playing basketball.

In the evening I watched Prince Caspian with the kids and worked on the second of a pair of leg warmers for Gemma.

Some Plans for the Week:  Just try to get into the groove with school.  Hopefully find time to make zucchini bread and maybe another batch of pesto for the freezer.  Try to come up with another two weeks' worth of menu planning.

If I Find Some Time for Myself I Want To:  Knit.  And sew some fall/winter pants for Gemma.

Special Prayer Intentions:  In thanksgiving for Gemma's bowel problem starting to normalize; for my own little health concern (Padre Pio, I am counting on you!), for Milehimama, Ginny, Gae and Nicole, all mamas on my sidebar, who are expecting, and for their unborn babies.  I am thrilled for you, and my heart aches a bit, too...

Something That Makes Me Smile:  He scores!  Max playing basketball with the kids.
