Rain...

They wanted to go out and play in the rain.  It's been so hot lately, and the cool, wet did look enticing.

I knew this would mean an extra load of laundry with the clothes, the towels and all.

There are so many battles to be fought in a day, and so I have learned to choose mine carefully.

I don't know if age is softening my heart or my head.

I do know that in my heart of hearts, I really longed to join them.  And I'm not sure why I didn't.

Maturity isn't all it's cracked up to be.

  2. That looks like sooo much fun. My kids asked to play in the rain today but they don't have rain jackets that fit so I said no. I think if they ask tomorrow I'd let them. :)

  3. Dear Nadja,
We have had so mnay day's like this. Even today the children played in the water. Our little ones went down to our seasonal creek to paddle and yesterday they played in the mud. I am still soaking their clothes from that one!!!!!
Did I mention it is Winter here and I have found our children nearly always play in water more than in the Summer.
I love their spontanaiety though and mostly just go with the flow.
Love the pictures of the children
    God Bless
    Gae

  4. I remember those times when I let my children go out barefoot in the pouring rain and it was a joy, such a joy, that my daughter repeated it recently at the age of 20. She is doing research in neuroscience at her college this summer, and the dorm is sweltering. She and some friends were so hot one night they went outside and danced in the rain in their pajamas. love, Beth
