If you haven't read this already...

...please do.  It is one of the best posts Elizabeth Foss has written, and although I am not yet a mother to young adults, time passes so quickly as to leave me breathless in its wake, and my children will be grown before long.
What I'm Never Going to Tell You

  1. Yeah, I read it yesterday. I was very glad she wrote it, especially since she has so many readers. As you know, I have young adult children as well as teens. Let me just say, it is very humbling. When I hear conversations that toot the Catholic homeschooling horn a little too loudly, I refrain from saying anything, but... My kids are all good kids, but we've had our fair share of surprises despite homeschooling from the beginning and doing our very best to raise them in a solid Catholic Christian home. I can empathize with the woman that prompted Elizabeth's post.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend! +JMJ+

  2. Yes, I also read it and agree it is a needed post. I have met too many mothers who think homeschooling is the magic bullet. I think homeschooling families definitely have a better chance of weathering the storms of teenage life, but there is no guarantee that it will be smooth or that there will not be heartache. From my experience even the good Catholic colleges have their share of disallusioned parents since the student body is not immune from partying students, shotgun weddings, adultery and divorce. Although their percentages are much lower than the public at large.

  3. Thank you for posting this link, Nadja.
I only wish I could have read this about 3 years ago, when our family was going through some difficult times. I would have posted it on the fridge and read it daily. Very well said.
I think there are many homeschooling mother's and father's who struggle with this.
Thank you again and God bless,
