Well, if you can't find something constructive for them to do, you can always win with suggesting something destructive. Like poking foam egg cartons with dull pencils. It will take them about 15 minutes to turn it into a thousand bits of Styrofoam. It will take you another 10 to pick up the larger bits and then pull out the vacuum to get the microscopic particles. But there are those desperate times that require desperate measures...This is really very un-Montessori, unless, of course, you let the toddlers do the vacuuming.
Yep! Have you tried letting them "finger paint" on your table with shaving cream? It wipes right off as it dries and leaves both the children and the table a little cleaner. ;)

ReplyDeleteOuch...had to be red, too, didn't it. O.W. from A Broader Mark had her little one embellish a new tablecloth with a Sharpie marker not too long ago...
