I have seriously neglected the religious training of my 5 year-old

Whereas Una could lisp through the St. Michael the Archangel prayer at 4 1/2 years and could identify all the saints on a stack of holy cards, Gabriel has been allowed to fall through the cracks. What indications are there? Well, some weeks ago he was glancing at a picture of Padre Pio on our bedroom altar and exclaimed, "Hey, that guy looks like Obi Wan Kenobi!"

I'm so ashamed.

Then again, maybe he's got a point.

  1. That is sooo cute (and so true)!!!

I'm ashamed to say that I was totally surprised that my two year old knows her colors. I have no idea who taught her...it wasn't me. Good thing they pick up information like sponges or my little ones would be in big trouble!

  2. LOL!

Well, Gabriel didn't say Padre Pio is Obi Wan Kanobi - only that he looks like him, so perhaps the neglect isn't as bad as you think. Yippee! - no need to be ashamed - you're off the hook Nadja! Besides, like you said, the observant little fellow definitely has a point! ; )

  3. It wasn't so much the comparison as the "That guy" part of it that pierced me to the core!

  4. Ah yes, I understand. You needed your boy to say "Padre Pio looks like Obi Wan Kanobi" in order to be reassured that his religious training was up to par. I get it.

Oh man, if I had a little more time I'd tell you about our visit from Padre Pio several years ago. It's a good story - and a true one too! Perhaps another time.
